The People Behind Pop's Birding Education

Pete Stankovich is the Director of Business Development for Pop's Birding, where he has helped grow the company's mission of connecting people with hummingbirds and the natural world since 2020. A lifelong outdoorsman, outdoor educator, and conservation advocate, Pete brings decades of field experience to his work. For 12 years, he served as a Boy Scout leader and merit badge instructor, teaching Bird Study, Nature, Fish and Wildlife Management, and other outdoor-focused programs. He also spent 5 years on a search and rescue team, developing expertise in outdoor safety, wilderness awareness, and Leave No Trace principles. Pete holds a B.A. in Business Communication from Chapman University and a Strategic Marketing Management certification from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Pete Stankovich — Outdoor Educator & Conservation Advocate

Pete Stankovich serves as Director of Business Development for Pop's Birding Pop's Birding, where he has helped expand the company's mission of inspiring bird enthusiasts and connecting people with the wonder of hummingbirds since 2020. Through his work in sales, marketing, and business development, Pete supports Pop's Birding's efforts to make hummingbird education and backyard conservation accessible to birders of all experience levels.

A lifelong outdoorsman, outdoor educator, and conservation advocate, Pete's connection to the natural world has been built through decades of hands-on experience. For 12 years, he served as a Boy Scout leader and merit badge instructor, teaching Bird Study, Nature, Fish and Wildlife Management, and other outdoor skills to young explorers. Through this work, he developed a passion for helping others understand wildlife, ecosystems, and responsible stewardship of the outdoors.

Pete also served for 5 years on a search and rescue team, where he gained extensive experience in wilderness safety, navigation, emergency preparedness, and Leave No Trace principles. These experiences shaped his belief that enjoying the outdoors and protecting natural spaces go hand in hand.

Pete holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication Studies from Chapman University and a Strategic Marketing Management certification from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He combines his background in business leadership with his passion for conservation to help Pop's Birding reach more people with educational resources that inspire curiosity, appreciation, and responsible engagement with nature.

Through his writing, Pete shares insights drawn from years of outdoor education, field experience, and a lifelong appreciation for wildlife, helping readers discover the connections between birding, conservation, and the natural world.
