Description

Patented Hummguard® technology prevents bees and wasps from contaminating nectar.

Hummguard® nectar tips slide onto the feeding ports on the underside of Pop’s AspenPerch® feeder.

The flexible membrane in the center of each tip easily opens when hummingbirds insert their beaks to feed & close up tight when beaks are removed - creating a barrier bees & other flying insects can’t penetrate.

Includes ring of 12 Hummguard® Nectar Tips to be used on Pop's AspenPerch® Hummingbird Feeder

How to use

Slide a tip onto each feeding port on the underside of the AspenPerch® feeder cover. The flexible membrane opens when a hummingbird inserts its beak to feed and closes tight when the beak is removed.

Keep the feeder clean. Change nectar every 2–3 days in normal weather, every 1–2 days when it's 90°F or hotter, and right away if it turns cloudy.

Bees or wasps at your feeder? Slide Hummguard® tips onto the feeding ports on your feeder cover. Pop's feeders don't come with bee guards built in, so the tips are the add-on fix.

Bring them closer

Build a hummingbird sanctuary

  1. Hang it in the right spot

Hang it 4–6 feet high, with morning sun and afternoon shade, near a tree or shrub for cover. Pick a spot you can see from a window. See the placement guide.

  2. Give them a place to rest

Pop's rule of thumb: hang a hummingbird swing about 1 foot from the feeder, at the same height, so they have a comfortable place to rest beside their food.

  3. Add cover and flowers

Choose a sheltered spot near tall flowering shrubs, so they have somewhere to retreat and natural nectar close by. Pop's wildflower seed mix is an easy start.

  4. Keep the nectar fresh

Change nectar every 2–3 days in normal weather, every 1–2 days when it's 90°F or hotter, and right away if it turns cloudy. Pop's nectar adds calcium and electrolytes.

Our story

It started with one swing

Captivated by the mystique and originality of the hummingbird, William “Pops” Sloan began the quest to invite more wonder into the lives of birders everywhere, so everyone could experience the joy and awe of a hummingbird sighting firsthand. Thus, the hummingbird swing was born.

Our mission: Pop's Birding is dedicated to helping people attract, understand, and enjoy hummingbirds through innovative products, practical education, and decades of hands-on experience.

Hummguard® tip questions

The things bird lovers ask us most.

Using Hummguard® tips

What do Hummguard® nectar tips do?

Each tip has a flexible membrane that opens when a hummingbird inserts its beak to feed and closes tight when the beak is removed, creating a barrier bees and other flying insects can't get through.

Which feeder do they fit?

They're made for Pop's AspenPerch® Hummingbird Feeder. Slide them onto the feeding ports on the underside of the cover.

How many tips come in a pack?

Can hummingbirds still feed with the tips on?

How else can I keep bees and wasps away?

Keep the feeder clean and the nectar fresh. Change nectar every 2–3 days in normal weather, every 1–2 days when it's 90°F or hotter, and right away if it turns cloudy. See our guide: how to keep bees away from a hummingbird feeder.
